Sejarah Universitas Charles Sturt
berasal dari tahun 1895, dengan pendirian Bathurst Experiment Farm. Dibentuk
secara progresif melalui penggabungan institusi regional di NSW barat daya dan
barat, CSU secara resmi didirikan pada 19 Juli 1989 di bawah Charles Sturt
University Act 1989. Sebagai salah satu universitas baru di Australia, CSU
dibangun berdasarkan tradisi keunggulan dalam pengajaran dan penelitian yang
mencakup lebih dari 100 tahun.
